This second entry on the beaches of Albufeira focuses on the central part of the parish coastline. Always between big rocky cliffs, the sandstrips of this area mix the usual long sand extensions with smaller, more peaceful spots, and there are also a few untamed rocky beaches for the most adventurous ones. What they all share in common is the fantastic Algarve sea and the lovely views!

Praia de São Rafael

This is Praia de São Rafael, a popular sandstrip that gets a lot of attention in the summer. It has all of the staples of the Algarve coastline: rocky cliffs, clear green waters, islets along the shoreline and a marvellous sandstrip, so you can't go wrong with this one! Atop the nearby cliffs are some higher points from where you can enjoy the beach and lovely vistas of the Albufeira coast!

Praia do Peneco

The huge sandstrip of Praia do Peneco is located right by the Albufeira Velha village, which is a great spot to visit on its own. This proximity ensures the beach goers have plenty of activities around, restaurants, bars and clubs nearby, and easy access to the sand, including a dedicated beach elevator with great vews. It is one of the most sought-after spots during the summer months, and there is no wonder why!

A little known marvel, Praia dos Aveiros is an enclosed sandstrip that offers a beautiful and tranquil refuge inside the busy area of urban Albufeira. It is a great alternative to bigger and crowded beaches. Even with its untouched atmosphere of peaceful watwrs and rocky formations, it has nevertheless supervision, sits relatively close to the city, and offers great vistas from the cliffs. Worth passing by!
