Here comes the best encyclopedia of them all, the one that shows you all the amazing Algarve beaches! And it also offers a close look at a few sandstrips worth of note, to ensure you find the right one for your next visit to Portugal! As usual, below you will find a list of the sandstrips in one of the parishes of Algarve, and this entry will focus on Albufeira, a region that gets a lot of attention during the summer months, when its marvellous beaches get crowded with beach lovers, locals and tourists alike!

The Albufeira coast is well known for its turquoise shoreline, its rocky scenery and its cliffs filled with vegetation. There are so many sandstrips to be found that this parish demands several parts to be completely covered! This is the first one, on its westernmost beaches. Around the area you will find generally big sandstrips, sometimes with plenty of pebbles and rocks around, and even if some locations are less visited, they are all great!

Praia da Galé Oeste

At the western side of the huge Praia da Galé sits this fantastic sandstrip offering calm seas, a big dune system and a few rock formations along the shoreline. Standing here, you can see the a big part of the eastern Lagoa coast and its many beaches in the distance. This is just one of the large beaches located around the area, so you will have no trouble finding your spot!

Praia do Castelo

Enclosed by cliff points that offer calm seas and a refuge from wind, Praia do Castelo is a little known beach with some of the best sights around, with a pool-like bay, rocky cliffs, the lush vegetation of the nearby lodgings and of course the sandstrip. This a good option for a great little beach that offers a more reserved atmosphere, instead of crowded favourites.

Praia da Coelha

This is one of the great marvels of the Algarve and Albufeira coast! Praia da Coelha is a lovely, small sandstrip located between rocky formations and cliffs, with clear-green waters and a lot of vegetation around. Of course, nothing beats its marvellous views. During the summer months, this beach will get a bit populated, because although it has a somewhat wild and untouched atmosphere, this is a very sought-after spot!

This is only the first part of all the Albufeira sandstrips, and there is a lot to discover in Algarve, so if these are not enough for the beach lover in you, check out these other entries: to the east Albufeira continues to offer great spots, with amazing beaches over a long extension. For something a little different, the area of Portimão is a real treat!

Enjoy your visit along the coast of southern Portugal with the help of this encyclopedia on the great beaches of Algarve, and don't forget to take your time to really appreciate the things you see!

We recommend to book your stays in Algarve in advance as it can get booked up quickly during certain periods. If you use this link, you pay the same price and we get a small commission - thanks for your support!
