St. John's Church in Tartu was initially built as a Catholic church, but today it is a Lutheran church. It is a brick gothic style building that dates to the 14th century, however it had to be largely rebuilt after the Great Northern War and the second World War. The exterior of the church is surrounded by terra cotta figurines. While around 200 of these figurines exist today, it is thought that threre were once over a thousand.
