Teatro del Estado "Gral. Ignacio de la Llave" - IVEC

The construction of the State Theater was the result of the concern of Lic. Antonio M. Quirasco, Constitutional Governor of the State, to contribute to the development of the intellectual, artistic and cultural life of Veracruz. This was projected and realized by the Architect Pablo Boeck, built between 1959 and 1962.

The State Theater was founded on the 1st. January 1962 and was inaugurated by the President of the Republic, Lic. Adolfo López Mateos, on November 20 of the same year. Emblematic scenario of the State of Veracruz and its capital Xalapa, where the most important artistic, cultural, local, national and international manifestations have been presented. In June of 1971 the governor Rafael Murillo Vidal called State Theater "Gral. Ignacio de la Llave "in homage to the liberal soldier.

Since February 2008, the big room has acquired the name Sala Emilio Carballido and the small room Sala Dagoberto Guillaumin, as a tribute to the dramatist and theater director, Veracruz.

The State Theater received well-known characters from the scene such as Alejandro Jodorowsky, Ignacio López Tarso, Claudio Brook, María Rojo, Claudio Obregón, Héctor Bonilla, Rafael Sánchez Navarro, Ophelia, etc. and continues to accommodate the best of the arts and culture.

The capacity of the Emilio Carballido room is 1, 068 people in total and the Dagoberto Gullaumin room has a maximum capacity of 250 spectators. The two 100% air-conditioned.
