Teatro dell'Armadillo

The experience of the Teatro Armadillo born in September 2000 in Arese (MI). Its founder Massimiliano Mancha, architect, actor trained at the Theatre of the Contradiction of Milan, author and director.

As an acting school Theatre Armadillo is hosted until 2004 by the school of dance and martial arts gym Hana Wa-Arese (MI), in collaboration with the choreographer Enrica Farina. Since September of 2004, with the founding of the homonymous theater Cultural Association, the activities move at the Hall Social Siolo, always in Arese (MI), and Rho (MI) before in the hall of District Two Terrazzano, then in the theater hall Middle School San Carlo via De Amicis.

In January 2007 the Association opens in Rho, Via Lainate corner via XXV Aprile, the Unheard space, multipurpose hall dedicated to activities and artistic events of various kinds, making it their headquarters logistics and organization, and the main place of their initiatives .

Over the years, starting with the first function of acting school for youth, adults and children, the Armadillo Teatro has definitely become one of the liveliest and complex theatrical reality Rho hinterland. Activities were extended first to the production of shows and participation in festivals, exhibitions and competitions, following the design and conduct of workshops for elementary, middle and high schools, and training of teachers, educators and parents. The last commitments concern the establishment of a library specialized in theatrical texts (dedicated to the writer and playwright Friedrich Dürrenmatt), the production of so-called theatrical music arranged by young local musicians, and the production of radio plays, short films and photographic exhibitions related to the theatrical events .

The peculiarities and specificity that characterize the work of the Theatre Armadillo are undoubtedly the choice to produce quality shows with actors mainly young and professional, the originality of the adaptations and directorial choices, the setting up of shows in places not conventional (barns, barns, feeders, squares, streets, courtyards, gardens, construction sites, apartments). These features result from the sharing of the thesis of a theater that is able to offer performances economically and geographically accessible, original and significant, to a new audience, to be built, Rho and the north-west province of Milan. A theater so it's of leadership opportunities and testing of an active role in the cultural life of the city, not for a few professionals but for many citizens and artists.
