The Teatro delle Saline is an architectural gem added to an equally valuable natural context, that of the Molentargius Park. A wonderful oasis that blends so harmoniously and adequate man's work with that of nature represents a great cultural and tourist resource for the city of Cagliari. The Theatre (the only one owned by the Region), dating back to the thirties, and in full Art Nouveau style: beautiful in his monumental grandeur and external stylish interior, rich of polychrome frescoes on the ceiling, paintings baroque walls, stucco and decorative motifs distributed over the entire surface. Unfortunately after his inauguration in 1931 closed its doors during the war to not re-open until 1991. Many years of neglect have contributed to deterioration and degradation of the theater. Thanks to the initiative dell'Akroama Theatre reopened its doors in 1991, after an intensive and meticulous work of restoration that has restored the ancient splendor. With a stage of 150 square meters, 332 seats and a well-stocked specialized library open to fans and scholars, the theater is today the most beautiful and artistic center of the city refined crossroads of exhibitions, conferences, congresses and events of public and private institutions, in addition to theatrical performances managed directly from Akròama, which are the most popular of the city.
