The first cafe in the country, where people with mental health problems work as waiters, cooks and bartenders.

The head of the NGO "Psychoanalytic Association" Anna Kudiyarova worked on the opening of this cafe, which is one of the steps for social adaptation of pupils of the Almaty psycho-neurological orphanage.

Pupils learn the basics of culinary art under the strict guidance of their mentor Nesip-apy, with which future chefs and waiters try to prepare dishes for the menu.

“They like to cook a lot, the guys are quickly trained and diligent: they seize everything literally on the fly. All tasks are carried out very diligently and conscientiously,” said volunteer Nesip Mergenbaeva.

“A social start-up is an idea of one of Almaty-based NGOs. Only people with special needs, that is, young people with mental disabilities, work in an inva cafe. They work under the strict guidance of mentors and psychologists.

The initiators admit: it was necessary to train specific personnel from scratch. Even the usual trip to the store, "- noted in the message.

“There were several people who were afraid to hold money in their hands, you know, money for them is such a taboo, it is something terrible. Other money may not have been afraid, but they were afraid to go to the store, to see the cashier, to go to the shelf. And gradually our entire team of psychologists taught them this. And what’s important now is that we want to break stereotypes through this cafe, go against stigmatization, so that people stop being afraid and avoid such people, ”says the head of the NGO“ Psychoanalytic Association "Anna Kudiyarova.

She also informed that the Soros Kazakhstan Fund allocated the initial capital for promotion and wages to employees.
