Cafe Theater Schalotte

We did not reinvent the theater. But there is no such theater as ours in this city.

We manage the Cafe Theater Schalotte on a voluntary basis, ie without salary, without profit, without monetary advantages, and that since 1980.

But we do not do it for nothing, because we get a lot of fun, a lot of scene knowledge and a lot of competence in cultural management.

As a house without a permanent ensemble, we offer our boards to a wide variety of stage art: There is quilted, flamenco danced, classical spoken theater played, musical offered, concertante music and, again and again: sung. For 15 years we have been designing the Berlin A Cappella Festival in November. Parallel to this, in early summer, the pop and jazz choir series TotalChoral, in which we show that even great choirs can sing flute songs as Beethoven's ninth.

Currently, the team at Cafe Theater Schalotte has more than 20 members who run the shop with a lot of fun and commitment, without even going on stage. Since its founding, the shallot has been a project of the Protestant parish of Charlottenburg.
