Castello di Cisterna

The construction of the current site Cisterna Castle occurred in 1200 after the destruction of an original castle: old Cisterna (there is still a ruin with its moat located along the river Puglia) as a result of the passage of Frederick Barbarossa who was heading Spoleto.

Tanker came under the protection of Trinci, Lords of Foligno, who exploited this refuge residence several times for military needs.

Cisterna the seventeenth century or so has gone from a noble family to another (Baglioni, Bennicelli, etc ...), then remained under the archbishopric of Todi protection until 1980.

 Today's castle and 'made up of the central part of the mold, by defensive walls and a square tower height of about 15 m with close to a small group of houses.
