Etoile Saint-Germain

Opened in 1969 on the Place Saint-Germain-des-Prés, on the site of an old tavern, the Georges Beauregard room is named after the famous producer of the New Wave.

In 1979, the Bilboquet joined the circuit "Olympic" Frederic Mitterrand who renamed Olympic Saint-Germain. He then aims thanks to its strategic location in the Latin Quarter, to become the leading independent cinemas. This is done because, having again changed its name to that of Saint-Germain des Prés, it becomes an art and popular cinema test. This room has always remained true to a certain spirit of independence and originality in programming.

Despite the tremendous success that rewards the quality of programming still VO, including Rivette and Rohmer, linked to a Dolby programming widescreen, Le Saint-Germain des Prés is in danger. In the early 90s, the cinema has to fight for its survival. It is indeed threatened to transform kitchen adjoining the restaurant. A formidable petition viewer is implemented, the press was alerted and the authorities are notified. Finally, the Saint-Germain des Prés narrowly calm the appetite of its neighbors ...

After two months of renovation work to the Saint-Germain des Prés reopens in April 2011. While keeping its historic charm, Sigolène Prébois Levy and Catherine brought to the room appreciable extra comfort and worked many details that make it a unique place. A large mirror engraved with golden stars and colorful letters welcomes the audience in the hall under the lights of a majestic chandelier, called the Saint Germain des Prés, and created especially for this space. The room swapped his black walls for night light blue walls. The chairs are now numbered and equipped with a fine hook packed with a pilot for hanging a bag and read while waiting for the start of the projection. Another novelty of this redevelopment is its reception area hidden behind the screen: the barely finished movie, the screen goes back and reveals a warm space for a hundred people.
