Why are we?

[The association "Film Palette Jever e.V., Cinema Friends Friesland" was founded in December 2013 to prevent the imminent closure of the last regular cinemas in Friesland.

What have we done so far?

The closure of the cinema could be prevented. The club acted as a mediator to bring the stalled lease negotiations between tenants and landlords back to work and to a successful conclusion. In discussions with the city of Jever, the district of Friesland and at various demonstrations, attention was drawn to the acute situation and also perceived by politicians. Finally, in March 2014, € 10,000 was put into the budget of the city of Jever for the preservation of the cinema. Due to the popularity, the cinema operators decided to invest in the new digital playback technology.

What do we want to achieve?

The cinema in Jever should be permanently preserved. In order to achieve this goal, a possible takeover of the cinema operation by the association is aimed at at a later date. Up to a takeover of the cinema, the club intends to present a program that goes beyond the film offering of commercial cinemas: he organizes theme evenings with special film offers, initiates lectures and discussions around the topic of cinema culture. Also planned are events such as:

• female cinema / men's cinema
• Dream movie evenings
• Coffee and cake cinema
• special demonstrations for children and seniors
