Today, the FORUM Bar Lounge Restaurant stands out not only for its looks but also for the ambience that is an absolute meeting place in Zurich for apero's, corporate events, brunch, banquet, Christmas dinner, bachelor parties or simply lounging.

STORY

1928. The building was completed in 1928 to plans by the architect Ernst Zuppinger. It was a highly modern concrete building for the time, conceived as a residential and commercial building with a restaurant, a department store and the Licht-Spieltheater Forum, the largest cinema in Zurich with 1700 seats. In addition to the guest in the forum also all former Variété sizes. Originally intended as a simple cinema for Volksquartier, the forum was very self-confident at the opening as a glamorous attraction. This was underlined by a then remarkable neon lighting, the largest of their time. Green light bands spanned the street-side façades of the building, while the large green and red tube inscriptions shone far into the night. The Festschrift for the opening of the Lichtpalast Forum Zurich not only noted the opening program, but also gave detailed information on the construction, interior design and architectural plans and constructions, which were ambitious and well thought-out in every respect. Thus, the bar was set high for the creators of the new forum. But we can proudly claim to have restored all these points to Zurich.
