Tove Ringereide started the theater already in 1974, then as "Fyllingsdalen Teaterfabrikk". The venues were an old wooden bridge from the days of war, the actors were local youths from Fyllingsdalen. The rumor of the "theater enthusiasts from Bergen west" spread quickly, and suddenly the wooden benches in the hall were full of the audience.

This was the sprout of today's "Fyllingsdalen Theater", which over the years has had many exciting installations and has received brilliant critics.

Tove had a special flair for what would interest and shy children. This was her trademark, as the many great children and youth pieces that have been set up at the theater testify. The fact that children became fenced also became apparent in the actual layouts, often there were up to 40 children on the stage in a performance. This was something that the press felt and emphasized as Fyllingsdalen Theater's strength and tradition.

Shortly after the startup, Tove's long-lived cohabitant Stein Werner Rosenlund became a very important part of the theater, and contributed greatly to developing the house both financially and artistically. Stein unfortunately left away in 2007.

Fyllingsdalen Theater has been one of Bergen's most important cultural contributors for children and young people for over 37 years with a total of 150 productions, over 4000 performances and over half a million visitors. Many famous names from the mountain scene started their career here. Examples are Marit Woldsæther, Kjersti Elvik, Herborg Kråkevik, Reny Marie Folgerø Gossand, Vidar Magnussen, Sturle Bjordal and Lykke Kristine Moen.

Tove Ringereide owned and operated the theater from the beginning and until his death in 2011. Today, the foundation New Fyllingsdalen Theater runs the theater in Tove's spirit.
