Gorenjski muzej

The Gorenjska Museum is the central Gorenjska gallery and museum institution, which builds its mission on the basis of supporting collections: archaeological, ethnological, older, artistic, cultural and recent history and contemporary art, the cabinet of Slovenian photography, the artistic creativity of Gorenjska and Prešerna. The museum is oriented towards continuous communication with the environment - we present heritage with exhibitions, publications, workshops, study rings and lectures.

The main exhibition sites of the Gorenjska Museum are the Khislstein Castle, the Mestna in Prešeren House and the Kostnica in Kranj; we also have three dislocated units in Bohinj Museum Tomaž Godec, Planšarski muzej and Oplenovo house. We are just before the opening of a completely new permanent exhibition of Prelepa Gorenjska in the renovated castle Khislstein, where the story of the Gorenjska region and people tells more than 1,300 museums, the contents of individual rooms summarize the selected verses from Prešeren's poetry and folk songs.
