PROFILE GRIPS Theater | NETIQUETTE Who does not know them, the songs and the stories from the legendary LINE 1, the musical about life and survival in West Berlin of the 80s, which plays in the subway? The success story of LINE 1 began in GRIPS in 1986, since then the play has been in the repertoire, went around the world, and is as current as ever. In short: LINE 1 is the export hit of Berlin and a must for all Berlin and Berlin visitors! But not alone LINE 1 ensured the worldwide fame of the 1969 founded in Berlin GRIPS Theater, but v.a. his children's and youth pieces. GRIPS is the founder of the "emancipatory theater", it was the first theater in the world that critically addressed the current life and living conditions of children and adolescents and showed the world as changeable. This idea has not only revolutionized the children's and youth theater in Germany, which used to only know the Christmas fairy tale and classic, but also influenced and enriched all theaters worldwide! Its founder, main author and longtime leader is VOLKER LUDWIG. From 2011 to July 2016, Stefan Fischer-Fels was Artistic Director of the house, since August 2016, Philipp Harpain is responsible for the artistic direction of the house, Volker Ludwig is still working as a managing director and author for the GRIPS.
