The small theater has been the home of the free, professional theater scene in Salzburg since 2007 and defines itself as a venue, source of inspiration and cooperation partner. In addition to contemporary theater and cabaret, children's and youth theater is regularly shown in the 150-seat house. The small theater places special emphasis on cooperation with kindergartens and schools.

The small theater is a venue and production partner for the Salzburger free theater makers. The organizational support, bundling and application of the free theater as well as excellent performance conditions and the provision of the technical possibilities of a theater are the most important tasks of the small theater. In addition, it works with the implementation of projects for and with young people, e.g. "Power | school | theater", as a stimulus in the field of theater for a young audience.
