GREECE The State Museum of Contemporary Art (ΚΣΣΤ) was established in 1997 and is housed in the complex of the Lazariston Monastery in Stavroupoli, Thessaloniki. The core of the collections and exhibitions of the museum is the Giorgos Costakis Collection, which consists of 1277 works of art (paintings, drawings, constructions, porcelain, etc.) of the most important artists of the Russian avant-garde (early decades of the 20th century, Malevich, Popova, Klucis, Rodchenko, Kliun, etc.), while the Museum also has a remarkable collection of works of modern art. The Thessaloniki Contemporary Art Center (KSTTH) is part of the KSST and since 2002 it has been housed in the B1 Depot in the Port of Thessaloniki, hosting periodical exhibitions of the KSSST and its own productions. During the years of its operation, the Center has developed an extensive exhibition activity by organizing large exhibitions, collaborations - exhibitions with museums of modern and contemporary art abroad and the country, the publication of special catalogs, the organization of international scientific conferences, the design and the operation Special websites, organizing educational actions. Also, the KSST is the organizer of the Thessaloniki Contemporary Art Biennial, which has been taking place in 2007 with the help of many cultural operators.

ENG The State Museum of Contemporary Art (SMCA) was founded in 1997 and is housed in the Moni Lazariston building complex in Stavroupoli, Thessaloniki. The George Costakis Collection, which consists of 1277 artworks (paintings, sketches, constructions, china, etc.) of the most important artists of the Russian avant-garde period (first decades of the 20th century Malevich, Popova, Klucis, Rodchenko, Kliun and others). The Museum also owns an interesting collection of works by contemporary artists. The Contemporary Art Center of Thessaloniki (CACT) is an independent department of SMCA and is housed in Warehouse B1 at Port of Thessaloniki since 2002, hosting periodical exhibitions of the Museum as well as its own productions. In its years of operation, the SMCA has developed extensive exhibition activities through the holding of large exhibitions, co-production of exhibitions with modern and contemporary art museums in the country and abroad, through the publication of special catalogs, the organization of international Scientific conferences, the design and operation of special websites, the implementation of educational activities. In addition, the SMCA is the organizing institution of the Thessaloniki Biennial of Contemporary Art, which has been organized since 2007 in Thessaloniki with the collaboration of many cultural institutions.
