Les Bateliers Namur

MAN, Archaeological Museum of Namur is installed since 1853 in the old communal butchery or Halle al'Chair. It lends itself much more now operating a modern museum. Its collections are exhibited and stored in premises certainly prestigious, but little functional and somewhat spacious. The City of Namur has decided to transfer the Archaeological Museum on the site of the old school Boatmen, Saintraint street, to better exploit its potential and make it again a major asset in Namur, in the cultural, tourist and economic. This transfer is part of the will to be in this old well-preserved area, a museum and cultural center that will establish synergies between the Archaeological Museum and the other municipal museum, the Museum of Decorative Arts in Namur, formerly the Museum Groesbeek -from Cross, but also with the House of Poetry, the Maison du Conte, the Félicien Rops provincial Museum and the theater company Hypothésarts. The old school Boatmen was transformed to host the NAM. The chapel will be the link between the MAN and the Museum of Decorative Arts in Namur. A central and common reception there will be localized and converted.
