MAGA - Museo Arte Gallarate

Founded in 1966, following the acquisitions of the National Visual Arts Prize City of Gallarate instituted in 1950, the MAGA museum, in richness of the permanent collection, activities and an exhibition center, is one of the most important institutions dedicated to contemporary art in the national territory inside the hammock. Run by the Foundation of Modern and Contemporary Art Gallery Silvio Zanella, owned by the City of Gallarate, from MIBAC, by the Lombardy Region and the Province of Varese) The MAGA has opened in March 2010 a new and prestigious venue in an architectural complex great prestige of over 5000 square meters. Since its founding, the MAGA museum has carefully supervise the public to discover art in the belief that the comparison with the work is an opportunity for growth and training with respect to the most pressing questions or curious contemporary. For this reason the museum has always been involved in the design of exhibitions and cultural activities, developing and deepening two main directions: the historical re-reading - the twentieth century criticism and support for the most current research. The museum in fact, enhances and promotes the historical heritage through the implementation of exhibition projects of authors and paths that have profoundly marked our recent past and that dialogue with themes and authors of the permanent collection. On the other side it offers a glimpse into the most current research, by inviting young artists, organizing conferences, meetings, workshops and educational workshops aimed at a broad and diverse public, in the belief that the museum is an open place of culture, meeting and exchange.
