Mrac Musée régional d'art contemporain Occitanie / Pyrénées-Méditerranée

Located in the heart of the Region Occitan / Pyrenees Mediterranean, bordering the Mediterranean, the Regional Contemporary Art Museum (MRAC), installed in the city of Sérignan is an essential artistic and tourist place. It has 3200 m², temporary exhibitions and a permanent collection, says strong artistic choices also supports many French and international artists and invents new forms of mediation in art. The museum, inaugurated in September 2006 and managed by the Languedoc-Roussillon Region since 2010, is housed in a former wine cellar. The exhibition rooms have large volumes bathed in natural light. In this friendly and bright atmosphere, different spaces offer visitors a rich and varied career: a cabinet of graphic arts, exhibition spaces and a gift shop that offers a wide range of exhibition catalogs, books of artists and original editions. More spacious, the "new" museum, conceived and implemented by Architecture Workshop Castelnau Feri, changes dimension. The new space of 450 m2, acquired by the region in 2013 with the City of Sérignan and the 1st floor of the adjacent station to the original museum, allowing the MRAC develop its appeal across the region and new high improve the development of its collections and its rich programming temporary. The new reserves of the museum will host an outstanding deposit of the Fonds national d'art contemporain, one of the most important collections in Europe, managed by the Cnap.
