From the culture "under the hayloft" (Walloon: "so l'çîna")

"Solsina" is a warm and intimate space dedicated to culture and all forms of sharing. The space redeveloped under the old hayloft of a small farm in the Durbuys region naturally invites you to an authentic encounter, in a spirit always festive and welcoming. The non-profit association Solsina aims to give a place of choice to the culture and the meeting, with ease in the quiet village of Ninane.

Actions made : Created in September 2009 at the initiative of young musicians, the ASBL Solsina organizes since its creation cultural events open to all at democratic prices. Until today, music has been given priority with eclectic programming aimed at discovering, supporting and promoting musical creation. Solsina has had the pleasure of presenting numerous local groups, confirmed or in the making, musical bands from other regions or countries, from rock to pop, including jazz, French chanson, blues or world music. Occasionally, Solsina also offers small exhibitions, show nights, stories and legends, flea markets or animated walks ...

For many years, a second part of the project is in development, a dream that was sleeping in people's minds and this year will finally come true: "The opening of a museum! "

At the origin of this project, a passionate collector: José! José Cornet is the son and grandson of farmers who have been living for five generations in the former farmhouse which has been partially converted into a cultural site. Passionate about the farm, the mechanics, the repair and the memories of his region, José gathered a magnificent collection of tools of the farms of yesteryear. Now retired, he finally has the opportunity to publicly share this passion.

A collection of agricultural tools from the past

For more than 25 years, José has traveled to Wallonia in search of agricultural tools of the past. More than 150 pieces are presented over 3 themes: milk processing, field work and breeding.

Located upstairs (on the old hayloft), the exhibition space is full of stories and experiences. The lobby is dedicated to the processing of milk: skimmers and barates precede the room dedicated to harrows, seeders and plows, while the third room has some unusual objects like this harness designed to prevent the cow from pilfering apples from the orchard.

Around the tools are also presented photographs, articles, enamelled plates and other witnesses of the daily life of yesteryear. In this attic with memories, it is a whole world that comes back to life and will certainly delight the old ones, but also the younger generations whose interest for the culture of the earth is in recrudescence. Beyond its vocation of conservation and memory, this museum is an opportunity to question the profession of farmer, the evolution of the tools and the agricultural machinery of formerly, but also of today and for the time to come ...
