Museet i Mælandsgården

At the museum in Mælandsgården you go through a historical journey where you get insight into the herring and sailing season in the 19th century and development until the mid-20th century.

The entrance hall is an authentic staple bout from 1843. Amongst the museum you can see exhibitions of several important professions from this epoch, American walking, customs office, city model and interior from home at this time, including living rooms, sleeping rooms and kitchens.

Guests can take a look at the hugs, buy brochures and books on local history or old-fashioned candy, and get an exciting tour of the museum museums throughout the museum.

In the museum in Mælandsgården you can learn about the history of Skudeneshavn in the 1800s and the development until the 1950s. The entrance of the museum is an authentic shop from 1843. In the museum there are exhibitions of different workshops as e.g. a dentist, a hairdresser and a blacksmith, city model, customs office, and the interior from the homes of local families from this era.
