Museo-Galleria Alariesto

The Alariesto Museum Gallery is located right in the center of Sodankylä, in the immediate vicinity of Old Church and Poropatsa, in Sodankylä House. The Museum Gallery was opened in July 1986 and there is a permanent exhibition of the life and production of painter Andreas Alariesto (1900-1989). The Museum Gallery is maintained by Riikka and Andreas Alriesto's Lapinkuvat Foundation and the municipality of Sodankylä. The foundation's task is to take care of the Alariesto art collection and to especially respect the ancient Sompion's cultural heritage. Also in connection with the Museum Gallery is the status of changing exhibitions. Museum-Gallery Alariesto is in the middle of the center of Sodankylä, in the same area as the Old Church and the statue of Reindeer Herder. Museum-Gallery was opened in July 1986 and there has been a presentation since the works of the local artist Andreas Alariesto (1900-1989). Museum-Gallery is maintained by Riikka and Andreas Alariesto Lapinkuvat Foundation and the Sodankylä municipality. Foundations main job is to take care of the works of Alariesto and cherish the old-Sompio heritage. In the Museum Gallery there is also the changing art exhibition
