Museo Rubboli

The Rubboli Museum, housed in the old nineteenth-century local Opificio, houses an important collection of majolica Rubboli luster ranging from 1878 to the sixties of the twentieth century, as well as some significant works of other important ceramics factories in the same period. The section Contemporary Tradition, includes works luster designed by Italian designers and made from Rubboli at the Triennale of Gualdo Tadino 2009 Contemporary Ceramic Art. The museum includes four rooms that correspond to the production stages of manufacture and the place of mittens: ancient kilns dating back to 1884 and used to obtain, by means of a third firing with smoke broom, shines gold and ruby. Muffles the Rubboli are identical to those shown by Cyprian Piccolpasso in his famous treatise Li three art of 1558. According to the scholar English potter books Alan Caiger-Smith, considered the leading expert on the technique of luster, "the muffle furnace of Rubboli, designed by Paul Rubboli around 1870, it is a modified version of that of Mastrogiorgio from Gubbio. Probably this is the only example of this type of oven for the luster left in the world ".
