Museum der Moderne Salzburg

On the Mönchsberg, above the roofs of the old town, lies the Museum der Moderne Mönchsberg, opened in 2004. The purist building displays works from its own collection as well as temporary exhibitions of international format.

In a baroque city palace in the heart of the old town is the founding house founded in 1983 - the Museum der Moderne Rupertinum. Temporary exhibitions show paintings, photographs, sculptures and graphics by renowned national and international artists.

The Museum of Modern Monksberg is picturesquely situated high above the rooftops of the old town of Salzburg and offers new, contemporary architecture for large-scale exhibitions and presentations of the museum's own holdings on international context. The museum offers an ideal setting for presentations of the museum's own comprehensive collection and large-scale temporary exhibitions of international contemporary art.

The Museum of Modern Art Rupertinum, a baroque palace built by the archbishops, located in the immediate vicinity of Festival Hall and Cathedral precinct, has been adapted for the presentation of modern art. The two buildings of the Museum der Moderne Salzburg offer 3,000 m2 of exhibition space for thematic and monographic exhibitions of 20th and 21st centry art, as well as presentations of graphics and photography.
