Would you like to move to the future in one second? Touch the technologies that humanity will use? Or find yourself in an optical illusion? To tame the rainbow, learn to draw with light and play on a real laser harp?

All this can be done here, in the Museum of Optics, where a whole world of light and color comes to life, and such a complicated science as optics becomes simple and fascinating.

The Museum of Optics is the first interactive museum on the basis of the University. Of the 11 rooms, some tell us about the history of optics and the real technologies of the future, others introduce optical phenomena to life: you can "freeze" your shadows or paint in color, feel yourself Leonardo da Vinci, control particles in space and even fly a little. Optoblocks Faberge masterpieces and holograms, a unique collection of glass (the Abbe catalog), which is a light organ, allow you to imagine yourself in the place of the heroes of science fiction films and learn how optical technologies work in the most diverse spheres of human activity. The interactive format is what gives all visitors to study science with interest: most of the exhibits here can and should be touched!

The Optics Museum is located in the most beautiful place of St. Petersburg - on the Vasilievsky Island, in the historical part of the city, and occupies the first floor of the former merchant house of the Eliseevs, where until 2003 the laboratories of the State Optical Institute were located.

In 2015, the Museum hosted exhibitions Magic of Light and Magic of Light. Lite, organized by ITMO University in conjunction with the Greek Institute of Holography. In 2016 the Museum of Optics held an exhibition "Living Light" (Light Alive), which clearly and clearly told visitors about the magically beautiful properties of light.
