The Archdiocese Museum in Krakow, in its present form, has existed since 1994. It was founded on the initiative of Cardinal Franciszek Macharski and the director of the museum. Dr. Andrzej Józef Nowobilski. The Museum collects precious exhibits in the field of sacred art (painting, sculpture, goldsmithing and fabrics from the 13th to the 20th centuries), Karol Wojtyla's personal objects (we find here the so-called Karol Wojtyla's Room, a faithfully reconstructed room where the future pope lived in 1952 1958) and numerous Papal Papers - items John Paul II received from people during his many years of pontificate. The expositions are located on two floors of two tenement houses (so called Kapitulny tenement and the Tenement House) and can be visited from Tuesday to Friday 10-16 and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10-15. In addition, since its inception, the Museum has organized temporary exhibitions in specially arranged cellar rooms. The Museum also operates a conservation workshop, providing services for the entire Krakow Archdiocese.
