MUSEUM OF THE HISTORY OF THE CITY OF LUBLIN is a place of collecting memorabilia devoted to the history of Lublin Castle and its inhabitants. It was established in the 1960s as one of the branches of the Lublin Museum. It is located in the interior of the historic Krakow Gate - a centuries-old symbol of the city. A permanent exhibition showing several centuries of Lublin's history is available. Temporary exhibitions of interesting figures, events and places are also organized here.

BRAMA KRAKOWSKA is one of the old city gates leading to the fortified walls of medieval Lublin. For centuries it was a defensive building. Its name was owed to the leading route towards Cracow. Its construction began during the reign of Casimir the Great in the mid 14th century. In later centuries it was reinforced by the front porch of the Łokietka Square and elevated to the next storeys of the tower. After the renovation in 1782 at the top of it was placed the royal monogram of Stanisław August Poniatowski. In the next century there appeared two preserved paintings - Our Lady from the Krakowskie Przedmieście and St. Antoni Padewski from the Old Town. Destroyed during the Second World War, it was later restored and dedicated to the headquarters of the Museum of the History of the City of Lublin.
