In the Czechoslovakia, the dentistry played an important role before 1989. A lot of common products today were inaccessible to most people, and the desire for them has probably led to their making amateurish doyons. The material was hard to find, many things could not be bought by an ordinary citizen. However, the rather looser recording system in the former companies allowed unofficially to obtain all the necessary materials and components. The kutils also showed extraordinary imagination in how to use things intended for another purpose so that the product works. Especially in the 70s and 80s of the 20th century, a winged saying about the golden hands of Czechs was valid. Czechoslovak DIYs have created everything you can remember. It does not seem to be a field in which we do not find a DIY product. Amateur mass-produced devices included, for example, lawn mowers, circular saws, battery chargers, electric welders, water heaters, etc. Garden tracts, sometimes unique to amateur cars or anti-migraine glasses, were also created. This interesting period is mapped by the Polná Museum of Doom, which already owns over 200 exhibits and the collection is still expanding. All exhibits have their registration sheet with a description of the history of the creation, the year of production and the name of the author. So far, some DIY have earned satisfaction for great ideas, technical solutions and skill by placing their product in the museum. Interest in other exhibits is permanent. Everyone can contribute to the history of DIY and dedicate their work. The dental shop is still waiting for its historians to map out this phenomenon, to explore and evaluate its contribution to society.
