Teatrul Vasilache

The "Vasilache" Children and Youth Theater was established by Decision no. 153/1953 of the Executive Committee of the Botoşani People's Council. At first it was called "Red Tie", but in 1973 the theater took over the name of a well-known Romanian doll "Vasilache".          The "Vasilache" Theater for Children and Youth carries out its activity on the basis of the concept of artistic creation in the field of theatrical performance art and, through its artistic and aesthetic program, follows the needs and requirements of the local community in the artistic field.           The objectives of the institution are, in particular: the popularization of the puppet theater as a theatrical genre; the assertion of national cultural identity through the art of spectacle; promoting excellence, experiment and innovative dramaturgical and spectacular creation; promoting competition in the field of cultural supply.           In order to achieve these goals, the institution organizes and supports its own theater performances or in collaboration with other authorities and institutions, and promotes representative plays and texts including, besides traditional children's stories, creations of universal and Romanian dramaturgy, from classics to to modern. The performances of the "Vasilache" Theater for Children and Youth are addressed primarily to the young public - pre-school and school children, adolescents, high-school students. The opening to the world, to new ideas and different currents has been a constant of artistic activity since then. To carry out these activities, the institution has concluded successful partnerships at local or national level with public institutions such as UNITER, UNIMA, Romanian Ministry of Culture, Botosani City Hall, "Guguţă" Theater, Chişinău Theater, "M. Eminescu "Botoşani," Olga Cobileanscaia "Theater Cernăuţi," Bucovina "Museum Complex Suceava," George Enescu "Art University Iaşi, UNATC" I.L. Caragiale "Bucharest etc. The quality of the performance of the puppeteers of the "Vasilache" Theater is testifying to the impressive number of performances and spectators, the tournaments in the country and ten European countries and the over 60 awards and awards won at the festivals organized by the Romanian and foreign theaters.
