Theatertreffen

Every year in May, the most important German theater festival gathers theater professionals, journalists and guests from all over the world in Berlin. At the heart of the Theatertreffen are the ten "most noteworthy productions", which are selected every year by an independent jury of critics from some 400 performances of the season. The summit meeting of the German-speaking theater is divided into three event strands: The Theatertreffen camp on the day combines the public and discursive events with guests from culture, politics and business and establishes connections between the theater and current socio-political topics (admission free). The central evening events include the performances of the ten invited productions and the Stückemarkt, which this year invites three international artists / groups to develop new forms of theatrical languages ​​and extraordinary performative narrative styles. At night, public discussions, premiere parties and concerts invite you to linger in the Haus der Berliner Festspiele. In addition, the International Forum and the Theatertreffen Blog offer younger theater makers and cultural journalists the opportunity for professional development.
