Théâtre des Variétés

The Variety Theatre is a theater and shows, declared a historic monument in 1975, located at 7 Boulevard Montmartre in the 2nd arrondissement of Paris.

It owes its creation to Marguerite Brunet, known Montansier. Put in prison for debt in 1803 and frowned government, a decree of 1806 ordered the evacuation of the Palais-Royal Theatre which was then "Variety" name. The purpose of this decree was to distance the company from Montansier to make way for that of the neighboring French theater, the room remained deserted, while Variety-Montansier enjoyed a huge favor. Fort unhappy having to evacuate by 1 January 1807 the Montansier is received by the Emperor, and gets, at age 77, his help and protection. She then meets the League of Five, who led his party to found a new theater, one that now stands next to the Passage des Panoramas. It was inaugurated June 24, 1807.
