A. Matutis and his family settled in 1961 in the Taikos street, Alytus, in the street. Just built a two-story home has given a lot of joy. Matutis chose the brightest room on the second floor, overlooking the forest, so that he can listen to the spit of the birds when he opens. The poet himself spent the rest of his life at home. In this environment, the author's most creative year has passed. Here he was preparing for lessons, rejoicing at the release of each new book, and returned here after each long journey. Many writers, translators, painters, and literary critics from Lithuania, but from Russia, Poland and Ukraine, have been visiting here for an unsuccessful host. The poet has been in contact with many people, so his saved letters (about 700) are an invaluable asset.
