Ideal place to spend a holiday "slow" to relax, dive into the history and nature, the Giomici Castle is a medieval fortress of the eleventh century built for sighting and defense of Valle del Chiascio. Located along the Path of Peace between Assisi and Gubbio, was a strategic site of the "Byzantine Corridor" through which the Roman-Christian culture spread from Rome to continental Europe up to the East. The first official document which speaks of Giomici dates back to 1160 and was drawn up by Frederick Barbarossa, which it defined the borders. Placed on a hill overlooking the valley below, it is elegant and harmonious architecturally, with high stone archway at Guelph, integrated into a natural environment of incomparable charm. Adjacent to the castle is the Church of San Michele Arcangelo, built around 1154. The church has two interesting walls fragments of frescoes, largely attributed to the famous painter Matteo da Gualdo, member of the Eccentric Renaissance. Do not miss the opportunity to visit this magical place, to stay or to spend the most romantic wedding you could want.
