Galerie Détour

Since its creation in Legs, Claude Lorent, in 1973, the Detour Gallery has opted to make visible the contemporary art in the Namur region. The name "Detour" was an incentive for a large audience to be led into the unknown paths of art.

From the start, the relevance of its exhibition has quickly stimulated curiosity and caused a craze that quickly surpassed the Namur region. Besides art forms such as painting, sculpture or photography, experimental design was tackled enthusiastically minimal and conceptual art, video art, environmental or relational investing local and sometimes around the JAMBOISE gallery.

This pioneering role will allow many young artists to exhibit their first productions before being confirmed on the Belgian art scene or to meet an audience outside our borders.

True to its original philosophy, "Detour" continues to support contemporary art by offering both exhibitions of established artists, but also by welcoming young artists, especially of Namur, giving them visibility in a recognized gallery .

Funded by the Federation Wallonia-Brussels, Wallonia and the City of Namur, "Detour" persists for more than 35 years specificity to offer a space for expression for contemporary art, staying out of any concern mercantile.
