It was in 1979 that Maryse Vanguestaine (maternal teacher in the village of Ferrières for 33 years) and her husband Freddy Rixhon decided to organize with the help of the Cultural Committee and the support of the Commune, an exhibition of antique toys. Due to its success, the idea of creating a permanent exhibition was born and slowly it was transformed into a museum, which settled in buildings from 1875, first as a convent and then as a school. These premises were liberated, allowed on August 24, 1984, to inaugurate the Museum of the Toy and the Child. For 30 years, volunteers have been involved in bringing the Museum to life.
