The halls in the east of the castle house the relics of collecting the fruit that has characterized the archaeological research in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century in Friuli. The fascination of the past and the intellectual curiosity have indeed supported the archaeological activity of numerous noble Friulian and many distinguished scholars who have donated to the museum: magnogreci vases, funerary elements of proto-historic, Roman and early medieval from all over the Friuli . Hundreds of balsam glass and pottery, oil lamps, urns and precious objects in amber and gold which, with different compositions, constituted grave goods in a large necropolis excavated Aquileia on behalf of Count Francesco di Toppo. In lapidary, place in the portico of the castle, there are inscriptions, monuments and sculptures from Roman times divided by theme and coming mainly from the collections of Gorgo accounts and Toppo, who had owned land in Aquileia and surroundings.
