The Ponce Museum of Art has an internationally recognized collection of more than 4,500 works of art from various cultures that date back to the 9th century BC. until the present. The collection, a dynamic and diverse, includes paintings, sculptures, prints, photographs, drawings, decorative art, pre-Hispanic and African objectives, Puerto Rican crafts, contemporary ceramics, video and auditory pieces.
The strength of the collection lies in nineteenth-century English paintings and seventeenth-century Baroque paintings. For more than forty years the founder of the Museum, Luis A. Ferré, had the vision of acquiring pieces of high quality art to present a condensed history of European art to the public.
The collection of the Ponce Museum of Art also has important works by Puerto Rican and Latin American artists that provide a unique dialogue between Europe and the Americas.
The Museum's collection is the cultural heritage of all Puerto Ricans and the world. We invite you to experience and explore the breadth and variety of our collection, from works such as Head of the Greatest of the Magi by Sir Peter Paul Rubens (circa 1620), to the imposing 25-foot tall sculpture by Roy Lichtenstein, Brushstrokes on the Fly (1994), acquired in 2010.
