On October 20, 1969 the Municipal Museum of Art is officially constituted. The symbolic donation made by Dr. Urbano Poggi from the painting "La Máquina" by Carlos Ripamonte, marked the beginning of the new Museum and its collection. Since then the Museum became the axis of cultural activity related to the visual arts, offering the community multiple proposals. In 1998 it has its own building for the first time and at the end of October 2014 the Municipal Museum of Art changes its building headquarters. It currently operates within the Cultural Complex of the Old Market, a space located in the center of the city that also houses other cultural and training organizations. This new headquarters is the result of an ambitious project that recovered an emblematic building for the identity and civic history, giving it new uses and transforming it into a nucleus of cultural and artistic activities of Rafaela and the region. The new facilities of the Museum include two spacious rooms that feature architectural design and museographic equipment according to contemporary artistic demands.
The Mission of the Municipal Museum of Art "Dr. Urbano Poggi" is to promote and disseminate the Argentine art of S XX and XXI in Rafaela and its region. We are part of an emblematic building of the citizen's history. We work to be a place of encounter and reflection, where the community of Raphael and the different visitors live individual or collective aesthetic experiences, which go through their emotions and enable critical thinking.
