The Museum works in what was the old helmet of a stay built at the beginning of the 20th century, in the town of Aluminé. Its name comes from the fact that its former owner came from Uruguay, hence the name "El Charrúa", in reference to the original people of that region. The building was built with the technique called "French wall or quincha", which consists of a wooden structure and cane colihue, covered with mud.
