At present, this National Monument is an outstanding Museum of Decorative Arts and an important pole of activities linked to art and culture. Built in 1907 by the architect Alfredo Azancot under the order of the Spanish businessman Fernando Rioja, it represents the French classicism style and stands out for its imposing facade with staircase and columns. It is one of the most important Museums of Decorative Arts of the country for its collection of objects of Empire and Louis XV styles. Acquired by the municipality in 1956, the palace is a significant part of the historical and architectural heritage of the city. It conserves the original decoration of the time and was declared a National Monument in the category of Historical Monument in 1985 and Building of Historical and / or Architectural Interest in 2000. Today the Museum of Decorative Arts - Palacio Rioja offers a unique experience in the region thanks to its complete restoration promoted by the Mayor Virginia Reginato Bozzo and the joint work with the Ministry of the Interior, through the Undersecretary of Regional and Administrative Development, integrating the recovery of the building of great architectural beauty with all its ornamental elements, as well as the 333 objects that make up its different collections of great aesthetic, historical and patrimonial value that are exhibited permanently in the traditional salons that were once the residence of the Rioja family.
