Apart from its charming, narrow streets in the centre, one thing that makes Moraira stand out is its outstanding coastline. This town offers travellers a wide range of places to suit all tastes and ages, from relatively gentle sandy beaches to rougher rocky coves. In my last story, I told you about two of the most fascinating sandy beaches of Moraira. In the following, I will share some of the most remote coves in Alicante for those who seek thrilling adventures: Moraig, Llebeig and Angragó coves. So, let's discover the best coves next to Moraira!

Nautical activities, like scuba diving or snorkelling, are also great attractions this small town in Alicante offers to sea lovers. In its well-kept waters, those who are keen on water sports can enjoy a rich and varied seabed worthy of the best videos or photos.

Moraig Cove

Moraig Cove is one of the greatest treasures located really close to the town of Moraira, a corner of the Mediterranean Sea that will dazzle you with its landscape. Moraig is located between Moraira and Javea, specifically in Poble Nou of Benitatxell. It is about 300 metres long, and its crystal clear water will invite you to dive in from minute one.

Located in an exceptional spot, access to Moraig Cove is impossible by car. There is a parking area next to the beginning of the road leading down to the cove, though the last stretch to reach the cove must be done on foot. Moraig has become very popular in the last year or two, so I recommend getting there early in the morning during summer (around 9 pm at the latest) if you want to ensure you get a good spot. Another attraction to add to the list of reasons to visit this spot would be its remarkable cove, perfect for some cool Instagram photos.

Despite being a relatively small and secluded cove, it has many services to offer visitors a perfect experience. It has access for the disabled and amphibious chairs for bathing, lifeguards rescue, nursing service and daily cleaning so that the beach is in the best conditions.

Llebeig Cove

Llebeig Cove is probably one of the most special coves as it is the most difficult to access, which makes it the least crowded and favourite place for those who wish to spend a day at a rocky cove with stunning views and crystal clear sea. Furthermore, this cove, formed by the mouth of the Viuda ravine, is located between the town of Moraira and El Poble Nou of Benitatxell, so it is almost always tourist-free

There are two options to reach this hidden spot: via the Moraig Cove (Benitachell) along the so-called Route of the Cliffs, which I strongly recommend, or via the Barranc de la Viuda (from Moraira). It can only be accessed on foot or by kayak from other beaches or coves. It is important to know that it is not accessible by any other type of vehicle, and the route on foot is not suitable for everyone since it runs along a path with somewhat dangerous sections bordering the cliffs. However, the cliff views are breathtaking and a real treat for the senses. It is well worth the effort. Llebeig is one of my favourite coves, and the hiking route previously mentioned is one of the most spectacular and recommended routes along the coast of Alicante.

This small cove, very well kept and less frequented by tourists than the rest of the local coastline, has definitely got a special charm. It is occupied by three little white houses that give it a picturesque appearance. It was formerly occupied by the local fishermen and, nowadays, by the Guardia Civil and rescue teams. It is 120 metres long and 10 metres wide, but it is full of charm and amazing flora and fauna.

L' Andragó Cove

And last but not least, let me tell you about L' Andragó Cove. This quiet rocky cove is 150 metres long and 50 metres wide. In addition to its crystal clear water and its great state of maintenance, l'Andragó Cove has a viewpoint where you can enjoy beautiful views of the town of Moraira and its symbolic 18th-century watchtower. So it is not surprising that this is also one of the favourite coves for photography lovers.

In this cove, you will find several restaurants where you can enjoy the gastronomy of the area and hence spend a wonderful beach day with family or friends. It is also a great cove for open-air sports such as scuba diving or snorkelling, as its crystal-clear waters allow a full view of its rich seabed. From its viewpoint, you can also watch the sunset on long summer days with dreamlike views, making your experience unforgettable and special.

When you visit Moraira, you cannot miss these three rocky coves located very close: Moraig, LLebeig and L’Andragó. It is more than worth experiencing a beach day in these Mediterranean gems regardless of their slightly remote location. They are in my top 5 best coves in the province of Alicante and are the perfect places for thrilling adventures.
