Tătăraşi Athenaeum is an insti- tution of performances and concerts subordinated to the Local Council of Iaşi, which organizes, according to HCL no. 54/2003 theater performances and cultural and artistic activities. Having the mission to produce and promote cultural and artistic events and activities, as well as to promote and support the cultural and artistic and educational values and to encourage the creative works of the young beginners, the Tataresa Ateneu presents a great interest in the projects, to promote and celebrate the events and characters that have influenced and contributed to the formation of Romanian society over the centuries. Tătăraşi Athenaeum is one of the few performances and concerts in Iaşi that organizes and produces diverse cultural events in the field of performing arts, visual arts, written culture, etc., meeting the cultural needs and expectations of the general public while offering a space of diversified and professional manifestation for collaborators from multiple domains. Here are theater performances, stage performances and outdoor music, dancing, recital poetry, multi-show shows, book exhibitions, photography, poster, sculpture and graphics, screenings, seminars, conferences, meetings with writers, cultural debates and concerts. At the Tătăraşi Athenaeum there are activities for children such as music and dance classes, ballet, chess, guitar, theater, painting, piano, and for the young audience - theater classes. The Old Athenaeum in Tătăraşi, especially during the interwar period, constituted a real cultural focal point, but also an ambassador of the Romanian cultural unity. It was structured on sections, which included the treatment of a very vast problem: the cultural-educational section, the artistic section, the physical education, the economical-urban education and the philanthropic section. The Athenian excursions, the M. Musicescu Choir, the cinema, the theater hall have remained for the eternity in memory of the Tartars. The current Ateneu Tatares was built in 2003 near the place where the ancient Athenaeum, founded in 1919, immediately after the Great Union and inaugurated on April 25, 1920, functioned.
