Bed & Breakfast Het Gasthuys

B & B Het Gasthuys is located in an iconic monument in the beautiful old part of Amerongen. In 1850, the building, which is located where the village seamlessly merges into the flood plains, was built as a "two-under-one-roof" house. After having been in the possession of the noble Bentinck family, residents and owners of Kasteel Amerongen for many years, in 1970 it passed into the hands of the couple Bellaar Spruijt. In December 2009 we bought the house and started another restoration that will finally be completed in June 2012.

From the building, surrounded by Rijks- en Gemeentelijke monuments, the view of the floodplains, which are only 100 meters from our front door, is slightly bothered by the buildings of the castle. But via the main gate we can catch a glimpse of the wild Konick horses and cows grazing there. The floodplains, which have been transformed by the Utrecht landscape into a breathtaking natural landscape complete with water features, offer many birds a safe haven during the breeding season. The many geese that breed and graze regularly pull their familiar V-formation over our house during the test flights, which will eventually bring them to warmer places to overwinter.

Prices:

Room 1 - € 85.00 per night

This room is located on the ground floor, directly adjacent to the bath and breakfast room. It is the smallest of the three rooms but certainly not the least. Equipped with wireless internet, a sink, bath linen and comfortable cotton bathrobes.

Room 2 - € 95.00 per night

This room is also located on the ground floor but is more spacious and suitable for seniors due to the adjustable beds. The room is adjacent to the spacious hall with toilet. An outside door brings you in the cozy garden where you can stay for the purpose.

Room 3 - € 115.00 per night; 2 persons / € 155.00 per night; 4 persons

On the upper floor is our third room which has a special appearance. Because of the visible roof construction, this completely wooden room is very snug and romantic. Two antique French doubters make this room ideal for 4 people who will spend a comfortable night in the (extended) doubters with the excellent mattresses. Since the restoration is still in full swing, guests of room three will have to use the shower and the toilet on the ground floor. In mid-September, this room will have its own toilet and bathroom.
