Casa de Los Diez

Cultural Foundation Casa de Los Diez, Alfredo García Burr -private, non-profit- was created in 2015, by the great-grandchildren of Alfredo García Burr. His name was chosen as a tribute to Alfredo García Burr for his titanic and tireless work to preserve the property that was the artistic residence of the Group of Ten and which, today, is the headquarters of the Cultural Foundation.

Who were the Ten? They were a multidisciplinary group of young Chilean artists -architects, musicians, sculptors, painters, literati- who broke into the intellectual life of Santiago, between 1914 and 1924. Among them, we can mention: Pedro Prado, Julio Bertrand, Juan Francisco González, Augusto D'Halmar, Julio Ortiz de Zárate, Manuel Magallanes Moure, Alberto Ried, Ernesto A. Guzmán, Armando Donoso, Alfonso Leng, Acario Cotapos.

These noted artists stood out in the public and intellectual life of the first half of the 20th century, individually and collectively; his works left a precedent, both locally and internationally, thus achieving, not only his own recognition, but also influencing internationally renowned artists, such as Pablo Neruda and Gabriela Mistral.

Our mission at the Casa Diez Cultural Foundation, Alfredo García Burr, is to transmit the legacy of the Group of the Ten, integrating their artistic expressions and preserving them, and promoting the care of the cultural and historical heritage of the House of the Ten - declared Monument National Historical, by the Council of National Monuments in the year 1997-. Likewise, we seek to promote the development of young artists and entrepreneurs linked to the current artistic environment; being a meeting point between the community, the heritage and the new arts.
