Jean Monnet Chair for European Constitutional Law and Culture

The European Commission has awarded Dr. Lina Papadopoulou, Assistant Professor of Constitutional Law at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, with Jean Monnet Chair for European Constitutional Law and Culture for the next three years (2012-2015). This prestigious award is given to scholars who excel in teaching European integration studies. The Jean Monnet program fosters European knowledge and competence across higher education institutions worldwide.

The Jean Monnet projects are selected on the basis of their academic merits and following a process of rigorous and independent peer review. Originally launched in 1989, these projects are present in 72 countries across the five continents. These projects bring together 1,500 professors and reach approximately 500,000 students each year.

Mrs. Lina Papadopoulou, Professor of Constitutional Law of the Law School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, was selected by the European Commission for the creation of the Jean Monnet Chair at the Law School of AUTH for the three-year period 2012-15, in the subject "European Constitutional Law and Culture".

This honor is awarded on the basis of excellence in teaching, with the aim of further enhancing the knowledge about European integration and its various manifestations and implications. In the context of the Jean Monnet projects, all proposals are judged on the basis of academic value with a rigorous process by independent judges.
