Kino Gelnhausen

The history of Gelnhausen cinema:

On October 3, 1924, the first cinema in Gelnhausen opens with the Casino Lichtspiel. Operated by Georg and Rosa Schneevogl. At the opening, the silent film "The Most Beautiful Woman in the World", a piano player, interpreted drama, suspense and lyrics as background music. Later, the music came out of the gramophone.

In 1928 there was the first sound film and in 1937 the Lichtspielhaus shows the first color film with "Ramona".

In 1940 Berta and Arthur Schneevogl took over the parents' cinema.

On 25.04.1952 is the fixed opening of the new building park light plays (Pali) in Gelnhausen. After the death of Arthur Schneevogl, in 1957 the cinema was continued by his wife Berta Schneevogl and later by his son Hanspeter Schneevogl.

August 16, 1974, the reopening of the Casino - Lichtspiele takes place.

In 1982, a fire destroyed the upper rooms of the "Pali Disco".

2007 remodeling Pali. Extension of the foyer, redesign of the forecourt with barrier-free access to the cinema. The completely renewed forecourt of the Pali is an attractive place, especially in summer, to linger before the movie starts in good weather. In addition, it offers enough space to carry out a variety of special events.

2008 opening of the restaurant "Freiraum" on the upper floors of the Pali.
