The Museum of the City of Mexico, which was inaugurated on October 31, 1964, is located in the old Palace of the Counts of Santiago de Calimaya. Work of the architect Francisco Antonio Guerrero y Torres, the site is one of the most notable examples of Baroque architecture of the eighteenth century. Currently, the museum hosts temporary exhibitions on various subjects and, permanently, houses the study of the Mexican painter Joaquín Clausell as well as the Jaime Torres Bodet Library. It also has guided tours, workshops, conferences, book presentations, concerts and other artistic and cultural activities.
