The National Historical Museum gathers one of the most significant architectural ensembles of military origin in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The long-term exhibition circuit ranges from the archaeological period to the 21st century, as well as temporary exhibitions on history, science and the arts. After a long process of restoration, to facilitate the access of the visitors, the museum still has internal patios, store and a bistro-restaurant. There is also the Historical Archive, with manuscripts and iconographic documents, the Library, specialized in History of Brazil (including fashion, gastronomy and the like) and guided tours and previously scheduled with the Educational Division.
