The Museum of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw is a multi-faceted museum, which, in addition to its basic mission of gathering and preserving geological heritage, carries out research and documentation and extensive activities in the field of popularizing earth sciences and the dissemination of natural science.
Museum collections now number over 178,000. objects. Among them are rich collections of minerals and rocks, meteorites, fossil flora and fauna originating in Poland and other regions of the world, as well as valuable archives in the history of Earth sciences. The rich collections of Baltic amber and other fossil resins (more than 29.5 thousand specimens) belong to the largest collections of museums in the world.
